Tarot Cards - My Burning Bush
"Why doesn't God speak to us like that anymore"
I taught in a Catholic school system for 27 years. One day I was in the Grade 4 classroom teaching a lesson on the Bible and how it came to be. We were talking about two scripture readings where God talks to Moses and to Paul. God spoke to Moses in a burning bush and told him how to free themselves from Egypt. God spoke to Paul in a flash of light. The students wanted to know, “Why doesn’t God speak to us like that anymore?” At that time I told the students that God speaks to us as we pray. If we create silence in our day we can start to hear his voice. Do you have silence in your day? What do you hear?
If you do not come from a Christian background or you have had a bad experience with religion, I invite you to change the word God to Universe, Spirit, or whatever makes you comfortable. If I were to use movie references I would say, ‘the Force’ from Star Wars or 'Eywa' from Avatar. As you take your own spiritual journey or spiritual awakening I invite you to take what resonates with you and leave the rest. Use words that invite you to be curious and explore.
As I started to learn to use oracle cards and tarot in my morning prayer ritual I realized that I was connecting directly to Spirit. I would pull cards each morning to answer a question or just to get a feel for the energy of my day. My most common question was, “How can I be open to what is in my highest good?” As I read the card meanings it was like ‘the burning bush’ and I was getting a deeper understanding of my situation and/or journey. Over the years I also realized that even if I didn’t know what the cards meant at the time it was revealed to me over the course of my day with events or situations that came up. What!? Wow!!
For me, oracle cards and tarot cards have become a direct link to Spirit. Through my morning routine, I feel connected and grounded in who I am and my connection to the Universe. I am building a direct connection with Spirit and we talk easily as I begin to understand the language through the cards and the messages through my mind and body (my clairs).
How do you hear Spirit in your life? Do you have a regular practice?
